My name is Dr. Melissa Gaffney, a practicing podiatrist for 29 years and board certified in foot surgery.
Victim of the pandemic, my health system employer eliminated their podiatry service line in Greeneville, TN and my job and service to the community was lost in October of 2020.
Attempts to find other employment as a podiatrist in the community failed. Our town which used to have 3 podiatrists now had none. This continues to trouble me.
Having run a solo practice in Ohio 15 years ago, I knew I did not have the capital nor the emotional fortitude and energy to start my own practice again. I struggled with what I could do to help . There are so many complicating factors that prohibit offering medical advice to individuals . That is when the Lord put on my heart to start a blog and eventually a you-tube channel offering my 29 year wealth of experience as a podiatrist that may be a help to someone . This does not take the place of a doctor -patient relationship and is informational only .
But knowledge is power and hopefully may prevent someone from lost time from work and save money and time from a painful foot problem .
I want to share what has helped my patients with their foot pain over the last 29 years. My hope in sharing with you the plethora of real solutions to many of my patients’ foot problems over the years can help you too!
